16 years ago, two masterpieces of cinema came out on our screens: Kill Bill 1 and 2, made by the maestro Quentin Tarantino. They have become iconic films, acclaimed by critics and revered by fans for their costumes, their soundtracks and of course their main actress, Uma Thurman. Kill Bill has become an ultimate reference in pop culture and attention, maybe the saga is not over.
Quentin Tarantino has been talking about the idea of making a sequel to his two films for years.. He even talked about it after the release of the second in 2004. Except that fans will be waiting for almost 20 years, desperate to see this yellow jumpsuit and its messed up katanas again.. But a new glimmer of hope pointed the tip of his nose last week because Tarantino himself rekindled the fuse. Guest of the show The Joe Rogan Experience, he balanced his idea of a pitch for a third film.
I think it would just be to find the characters twenty years later, and imagine The Bride and her daughter, Bebe, having lived twenty years of peace before everything went wrong.. And now they’re on the run. The idea of being able to cast Uma Thurman and her daughter Maya is downright exciting.
The famous “Maya” of which the director speaks is none other than Maya Hawke, daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. The 22-year-old actress has already proven herself to Quentin Tarantino, having filmed with him in his latest film Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. And then, she especially made a big arrival in the last season of Stranger Things, and we will find it in the fourth season expected this year.
In any case, this potential story announced by Tarantino would be the logical sequel to the previous films.. Indeed, Kill Bill follows the story of the Bride aka Uma Thurman who wants revenge on Bill and his accomplices who tried to kill her and kill her baby. And this story of revenge could therefore continue via another character, that of Vernita Green, sworn enemy of the Bride whom she killed in front of her little girl. It is the latter who could avenge his mother. She must be 7–8 years in the film so she would have 20 more in the sequel, which seems credible, especially since after having killed her mother, Uma Thurman tells her “When you grow up, if you still hate me, you will find me.“
A pitch that would therefore hold water, which also seems to have been validated by the actress who playsVernita Green, Vivica A. Fo. Indeed, in an interview she mentioned the name of a young actress whom she imagines to interpret her daughter: Zendaya, The star of Euphoria and of Spiderman, idol of generation Z. In any case, even if nothing is acted for the moment, Kill Bill 3 So could be the last movie from the director who always said he would stop after 10 movies. Is–what do we really believe in it? Not sure. In any case after falling out for a failed stunt story, Tarantino and Uma Thurman have reconciled, so we are keeping our fingers crossed at least that they end up in one last project together..
