The Witcher returns at the end of the year on Netflix. The streaming platform is rolling out the red carpet for her, she announced Friday night during the WitcherCon, a convention bringing together fans and actors of the series. A first trailer for season 2 of The Witcher was unveiled on this occasion. A nice gift for the fans, since they will have to wait until December 17 to find out more.
Delayed due to a pandemic, this new season will welcome new faces, such as Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury in The Bridgertons Chronicle). She will play Nenneke, priestess at the head of the Temple of Melitele. Cassie Clare will also lend her features to Philippa Eilhart, a great magician who is a member of the Council of Magicians, and Liz Carr (The OA, Devs) will be Fenn.
Geralt more eloquent and philosophical
Henry Cavill will be back to play a transformed Geralt of Rivia: “I wanted to make him a more eloquent and philosophical man, because that’s what he is, deep down. He’s not just a sort of big bully with white hair “, he explained during the WitcherCon. In contact with Princess Ciri, he will become another man, added showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich:
“We have the feeling of witnessing relations between a father figure and his daughter […] How will they evolve to form a family unit? How does a man like Geralt, who has sworn he doesn’t need anyone, do when suddenly introduced to a young girl to take care of? And how is Ciri going to react, after having fled the whole of Season 1, when she learns that this man will now take care of her? It was great to start the second season with some uncertainty about their relationship, about their each other’s need to evolve. We wanted to ensure that their relationships gave the feeling of being genuine, and that their closeness was not feigned. “
According to the season 2 synopsis, “Geralt of Rivia takes Princess Ciri to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. He is convinced of Yennefer’s death during the Battle of Sodden. As the kings of the Continent, elves, humans and demons fight for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the young girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses within her.
